The great wise men and philosophers of the past have disagreed about many things, but there is one thing on which they have been in complete unanimous agreement, and that is "that a human individual is literally what he thinks, and his character and station in life are the complete sum of all his thoughts.
A man is what he thinks about all day long
[Emerson]
This very profound statement from one of mankind's most advanced thinkers, serves also to express the opinions of his peers from ages past.
Individuals are the makers of themselves, by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage; that mind is the master weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance. The golden key that unlocks the door to discovery of the abundant life, is learning to cultivate and discipline the thought life.
If there was ever a practical programme to 'cultivate and discipline' the mind with, it has to be found in out text Philippians 4:8
