I've always like Chinese cuisine and being a Penangnite, the food must simply taste good. We're not eating for survival, we're in fact doing more than that. Most, if not all Penangnites, enjoy good food. There were times when I felt hungry an hour or two later after having a heavy meal, but if you're having your lunch in Tai Fuu Chinese Restaurant, your stomach will be completely filled until dinner time. You won't need to look for something to munch for tea time. If it's dinner then, for sure you don't need your breakfast tomorrow morning. There's no pungent smell to the curry. All the ingredients are proportional thus, the aromatic alluring curry will make you salivate. You'll be drooling all over if you have not prepare yourself with a plate of rice. That's curry fish with ladies' fingers. It's not as spicy as some other curry which make you sweat with mucous running down from your nose. The curry prawns will be what you want to have as your main dish. I'm a prawn-lover and it's just so delicious is you mix your rice with the curry and also... their handmade signature tofu with enoki mushroom. The tenderness of the tofu has such silky melt-in-your-mouth feel. Even the Japanese tofu can't compare with this. The saltiness of the gravy is amazingly delectable. I slurp the gravy with my spoon and if I can have it in a bowl, I will want to wash it down the throat in one big gulp. The viscosity of the gravy is something that you have to taste for yourself. Not to forget the steam chicken with sweetened light soy sauce with colourful garnishing. The chicken meat is not at all elastic but in fact it is so soft, even those in their golden age will not have any difficulty enjoying this humble dish. The mix-n-match bite-size chicken with mayonnaise and another half with their own concoction of special sauce will make you realize that in order to have amazing Penang food, you can't find it anywhere from the tourist guide, but you'll have to look for it in places where it is not famous at all with tourists. Tai Fuu Chinese Restaurant is 8 minutes drive away from the airport but it's not located at the tourist destination site. You'll regret for not coming here to taste the most authentic Chinese cuisine. It is easy to make an omelette but you will need the skill to make a fluffy omelette with fillings of sweetened pork, delicious crunchy Bombay onions, chives, thinly sliced carrots and juicy prawns. It's like having treasure hidden among the golden shield. Brinjals. To be honest with you, I didn't even try a bite of it so, I can't tell you anything about the taste, the texture or anything about that dish. I'm just so not a vege-lover. You'll have to taste it for yourself. Have you ever tasted Chinese deep-fried pancakes with steamed sweetened egg-paste before? Can you understand what's in it... simply said, it's called 'kaya' in the Hokkien dialect. You can only find this in this part of the world. Do you have any idea how to enjoy every bite of the Chinese pancake other than chewing it in your mouth just like that? Immerse or dip the Chinese pancake into this bowl of creamy peanut sweetened dessert. That's a unique way of eating. I apologize for my limited vocabulary in describing food. It's so delicious that the best I can tell you if you see me eating, it's, "MMMmmmm... wow~! Mmhhhmmmm nyum nyum~!"
Oh, before I forget, I better give you the address to Tai Fuu Chinese Restaurant. If you're from Penang Island, you should know where Sunway Tunas is. I stake my reputation on this restaurant as this writer described well and truly it is an extraordinary place all must give a try to believe what was written to prove both of us wrong. The chef is a humble and simple man but the taste of his cuisine is out of this world, seriousssssssssssss....
