A General Misconception...

This is how far we've gone... you went overboard, I went overboard...

Do not do unto others what you do not want others do unto you. That sounds very very much like a Bible verse but if you flip thru the whole Bible, you cannot find it. You find this instead in Luke 6:31 Same like this one... God cannot help those who do not want to help themselves. This statement is also NOT in the Bible. Instead, GOD HELPS THOSE WHO ARE HIS.
  1. This is what the Lord says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord." [Jeremiah 17:5]

  2. He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe. [Proverbs 28:26]

"The grace of God can be pictured like a man standing at the foot of the Sears Tower in Chicago. Hard as he tries, he can only jump perhaps three feet high, but God's grace takes him from three feet above the sidewalk to the top of the tower. There is only so much we can do, and God does the rest."
