Penang's Celebrity Food...

No...no... don't get me wrong. It's not like Char Koay Teow is the food for celebrities. It's the most famous hawker food. It's number one since I don't know when... and I don't know what's so special about it. Why must it be RM5 per plate with just 3 succulent, juicy prawns? Mind you, they're crunchy prawns. Why must it be RM5 be it Ah Leng Char Koay Teow or the one at Padang? The one in Lorong Selamat... oh, wow~! RM 7 sometimes RM9...
It's not my favourite food. I eat it when I start being choosy and picky on hawker food. And I am in fact very choosy. I can stare at at least 20 stalls and then I say it out loud,"There's nothing to eat~!"
Tell you what's in there. There's koay teow (I don't know what's that in English), dark soy sauce, soy sauce, a handful of bean sprouts, chives (ku chai), one small chicken egg or you can ask for a duck egg if they have (I tried that but I can't taste the difference between chicken eggs and duck eggs maybe because my whole body system is filled with chicken eggs), lard (loathe it).... the result... a plate of tasty and extremely oily yet people always say,"Simply delicious~! One more plate~!"
Usually, I will order mine, repeating it a few times just in case I didn't get what I wanted. No chilli~! No bean sprouts~! Less oil~! More prawns if can but same price. If I see bean sprouts, I will gladly return the whole plate or else I will have a hard time picking them out and leaving them by the side of the plate.... decorative vege...

Pleasures...[130]

Three wonderful promises for the believer...
  1. GUIDANCE

  2. FULLNESS OF JOY
  3. REAL PLEASURES - But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives. [1 Timothy 5:6] Praise God we have the pleasures that last and are eternal. Thank God today for His guidance, His joy and His pleasures.

Excessive Blogging...

The sudden flood of posts in my blog is because I've not been able to login to my blogger account because of.... w1max.. and right until now, I have to login using both w1max and Maxis Broadband... and w1max takes the full advantage of not blinking at all. So, I think I have to thank Maxis for giving me the opportunity to blog like tomorrow will never come.
I'm not very happy with the service from w1max but they have been kinda helpful. Being helpful doesn't solve the problem here as I ended up running two lines on one computer. Is two really better than one? Shucks~!
Gimme Cookie Monster to cuddle on rainy days... my Maxis in NOT unlimited and I've uploaded so many pictures... aaarrrggghhhH~! Am I suppose to get my Streamyx back?
Tata~! 'Till I update again... these few posts will make you stay a little bit longer I hope. Have a great weekend ahead of you... everyday is a weekend to me...

Revo Party~!

That's a great one. Let me share with you what I know about Recess Revolution. It started with a group of students, praying for their school during recess time, but got caught by a teacher who punished them without asking what they were doing actually. Testing God in the process. The teacher took away their revision books so they were not able to revise for their coming exam the next day. God blessed them with answers. This group of students did really well for the exam without their books. The teacher who reprimanded them finally took the initiative to ask them what they were doing actually. God moves in marvellous ways. After hearing that the students were actually praying for the school, the teacher donated RM1000 for them to start this good cause. Say AMEN to that~!

So, Recess Revolution is not from other country but from our own country, Malaysia! Are you proud to be a Malaysian now?
We're surely proud to be called Malaysians... and Penangnites~! It's a large crowd and the largest of all Revo Party. Revo Party is organised by Acts Church in KL and Excel Point (EPCC) in Penang.
I guess I'm not too old to join them... hehehhee....
Oh, yeah... look at that crowd of teenagers from all over Penang Island... gathered together in one place, to worship and praise the Lord...
God is moving in the midst of youngsters. Prayerfully they will be as on fire for the Lord when they step out of their teenage life.... many falter and stumble while growing up physically... some even lost their ways and never come back....
The youth ministry from Acts Church is as lively as United in Hillsong... you can imagine how lively is that~!
Cam-whore before the party began... I like this photo most... images in the mirror...

When It Rains...

... it pours. The sky was gloomy for the whole morning. It started to pour for an hour or two. Sometimes for just as short as 15 minutes. Then, the traffic became crazy. The usual 15 minutes of fetching my kids home from school, took me an hour just to reach home. We were all screaming in the car.... main point --> We were all HUNGRY and thinking 'bout the piping hot food in the kitchen which I took precious time to prepare and cook... turning COLD~!

Why is it that everyone has to slow down when the rain has already stopped? Can't they just drive like 'normal'?

My Desire, Your Will...[129]

The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
but the prayer of the upright pleases him.
[Proverbs 15:8]
God rejoices and delights in a righteous believer. When he comes with praise and prayerful worship, this bring special delight to the Lord.
"Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
To obey is better than the fat of rams.
[1 Samuel 15:22]

God delights in our obedience and our willingness to listen and walk in His truth. Receiving God's Word and walking in the light of it, will bring us into rich and abundant blessing. God's will, nothing more, nothing less, nothing else, must be the deep desire of a child of God.

"Teach us, good Lord, to serve You as You deserve,

to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not seek for rest,
to labour and not ask for any reward
save that of knowing that we do Your will."

Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3-D

Saw the advertisement in the newspaper. 3-D... and I love cartoons especially by Pixar.. and Disney. Bought the tickets earlier then when it was around 5 p.m. it started pouring cats and dogs. It was so cooling and all I wanted to do was curl myself under the comforter like a giant python having had it's biggest feast.

Well... I can't do that. I know that if I fall asleep, nothing can wake me up unless I wake up on my own. And God knows I'll be awake the next morning and missing the show. So, I stitched just to stay awake. Thank God I went for the movie. It was so great~! I know that's so outdated of me to watch them but I actually missed watching those two.

The movie was 3 hours straight with only 10 minutes for bathroom breaks. During the second half of the movie, I almost dozed off. Nowadays, it's so hard to stay awake after midnite... my Cinderella time...
I still have so many movies that I want to watch. Ipman 2 and Iron Man 2 and lots more. Looks like I have to find one of the Sundays for movie marathon again... I'm lurving it~!

Delight...[128]

Your statutes are my delight;
they are my counselors.
[Psalm 119:24]

Let us look at some of these God-given desires.
I will delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.
[Psalm 119:16]
Their hearts are callous and unfeeling,
but I delight in your law.
[Psalm 119:70]
Let your compassion come to me that I may live,
for your law is my delight.
[Psalm 119:77]
If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
[Psalm 119:92]
"Anything that dims my vision of Christ or takes away my taste for Bible Study, or cramps my prayer life, or makes Christian work difficult, is wrong for me and I must, as a cHristian, turn away from it."
In choosing the best, we need to reject hindering mind sets and activities, and delight ourselves in God's liberating truths.

Deterioration of the Command of English...

English Literature was introduced into the secondary school's English Language subject 10 years ago. Students are make - yes... make... many don't read anymore... to read two books. One with poems and short stories, another book... a novel. It's fair that after 10 years of using the same books, there aren't many questions to ask anymore in the public exam thus, the change in the usage of reading materials this year.

I was aghast when my precious brought the books back for me to read. I have to keep myself updated with any changes.

I read about 'Black Beauty' at the age of nine, if not mistaken. That's a very thick novel WITHOUT illustrations. I actually read every word printed in this new book or should I say... comic... and slow reading took me 9 minutes to finish....
I even have time to snap photos...
They are already not the bookworm type, why not encourage them to read more? The teenagers are dumping the books aside as they have finished flipping through that NOVEL on the first day of school itself. By the way, how do you write a summary on an already summarised story? It's such a nice story... why spoil the beauty of reading with pictures... and more pictures... and coloured pictures? Why not just ask Disney to air it in 3-D? That will be more interesting~!

That's another book... that should last for 3 years and I finished it within 20 minutes.
*shake head* I don't know what to say about all these books. How are they going to improve their English when the words they are learning are so shallow? How are they going to read the Bible without knowing the international language? Read their blogs... most of them can't even construct a proper sentence. I'm not saying that I'm brilliant in using English, but there should be a standard that they can measure up to.

When I was still in primary school, I have already finished reading the collection of Enid Blyton's books...
...and not to forget the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew sleuth work....
How come I don't see the whole series of Sweet Valley Kids, Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley High and Sweet Valley University in the bookstores anymore?
There are so many books that I've read. Stephen King, Christopher Pike, Danielle Steele, Sidney Sheldon and the list of authors keep on expanding... the title of books... ENDLESS~!

Truthfulness...[127]

Did you realise that God also 'delights' in certain things?

The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in men who are truthful
[Proverbs 12:22]
Divine truth is a fundamental ingredient in our Christian life. Indeed all truth is embodied in Jesus Christ.
Jesus also said to his disciples...
There are so many people today declaring what they believe is the truth. From religious leaders to Eastern mysticism to New Age teaching.
Paul emphasises the importance of truth when he describes...
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place...
[Ephesians 6:14]
When we take hold of God's truth and the sword of the Spirit, we can withstand every attack of the enemy, and stand strong and victorious in every situation.
Learn, memorise and delight in God's truth today and Gil will delight in you.

You Are Special...

To all of you out there, a million miles away from me but managed to find a connection with me through this blog. Some of you from the United States, Mexico, Sweden, Arab, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Spain, Peru, Russia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, the Phillipines, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Japan and from my own beloved land, Malaysia. You may be sitting in front of the computer, browsing for something and stumbled upon my blog, you may be someone who clicks on my blog as it has become a norm to do so or you just need to get something from my blog... all I want to say is...

~ YOU ARE SPECIAL ! ~

Some of you may be banging into dead ends, trying to find your very own special and unique identity while trying to make your name to be known. Stop searching! You are already special before you were even formed in your mother's womb.

Going clubbing and being a party animal will bring you nowhere. Trying to fit into a 'cool' group does not make you 'cool' at all. Drinking yourself silly to show that you won't be drunk after intoxicating your whole body system with alcohol will NEVER bring you anywhere near of being someone special. Hanging out with a bunch of friends and gossiping around the round table, seeping cut-throat expensive coffee does not make you special, but it makes you someone common... like your life is not accounted for. Don't drown yourself in a sea of people.

Don't let yourself be someone common. Be yourself! God has a calling for each and everyone of us. Why blend into a culture which changes as fast as lightning? Why seek the approval of your friends just to be someone whom NO ONE will recognize because you're just like one of them? Being special means being different. You don't have to wear the latest designer clothes, you don't have to hang out in places where you don't like and the most important thing is you don't have to follow what others do just to please them.

There are people who are surrounded by so many friends, yet they feel empty and lonely. Some have so many clothes and so much money, yet they feel they have nothing. It is not what you have. Look beyond that. Why are you here on earth? There's always a purpose.

The A-B-C of getting your life straight and leading a joyous one...
  • Admit that you need Jesus in your life because only through Jesus we can get to the Father in heaven.
  • Believe that salvation is yours...
  • Commit yourself to the Lord.
God will NEVER fail you but man does.

Let me share something about myself with all of you. I have been whining to God that I don't have friends. I mean friends around my age. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a recluse as I'm surrounded by many people every day without fail. One day, I hooked myself with MSN and then Facebook. I get connected with lots of old friends. Whoever calls me out, I said yes even when I don't feel like going anywhere. For the whole of year 2009, I get myself addicted to Internet. I was a devil online. A real devil.

This year by God's grace, even with my previous post of being a slave to the Internet connection, I am spending lesser time online. I just login to check my e-mails and update this blog. I am very happy alone. You might be laughing when you hear this... I've NEVER attended any birthday party and I have never even stepped into a club... not even near the main entrance of one. I don't enjoy going to gatherings. I don't find myself happy to be surrounded by so many people and find myself tongue tight. I am very comfortable going out one on one, talking about things which are more personal, spending precious time with one another instead of talking about nothing.
Now, I find more time to do things that I really enjoy doing like reading and stitching.

I would like to thank James. Without him I won't realize that I have the ability to share God's Word with so many people. It was meant to be only for him but I know many of you are reading it out there. I am amazed that I can actually write and I do enjoy writing it even when he's no longer in my life.

Don't let anyone 'commonize' you by telling you, you're just like other people. You're NOT! YOU'RE SPECIAL. I'm special. For the whole year, I let him categorized me as someone common... like every other people. I thank God that he has been removed from my life if not I would have back-slided so badly that I couldn't even lift up my head to look at myself.

Set yourself free. Know it in your heart that YOU'RE SPECIAL. Your life is accounted for.

Well.... if you're just coming to this blog and feels like cursing me after reading this, I rebuke that in Jesus name, bind it and throw it back at you multiplied by seven times of your hideous curse. God bless you for your prayers and do come to read the numbered posts. It may be of help to lift up your spirit whenever you feel down.
You don't have to look like a stunning beauty to feel special. You don't have to dress up like the princesses in fairy tales to feel special. I don't wear like this to make myself feel special...

In fact, I just look like a typical Asian girl without double eye-lids or curl-up eyelashes. You can't see my eyelashes at all as they are too short. I don't have a body of a stunning model... my size is neither medium nor large but mostly label me as a pink fat pig :) In a way, that's a special thing to be called... I don't wear expensive clothes. That blouse is only RM5... believe it or not...*wink* I don't have perfect English but I'm still writing... Lastly....

WALK BY FAITH

NOT BY SIGHT

AND EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRITE~!

Listen...[126]

Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labour on what does not satisfy?
Listen. listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
[Isaiah 55:22]

Everyday we have have a choice of what we think, of what we shalld do and what we shall participate in.

Spiritually, we eat every day. Will you choose those things that don't really satisfy or will you choose and eat that which is really good for you? If you do your soul will delight and thoroughly enjoy the best of God's rovision for you.

For the ear tests words
as the tongue tastes food.
Let us discern for ourselves what is right;
let us learn together what is good.
[Job 34:3-4]

  • We need to be very selective about what goes through our ears and into our minds. Just as the tongue tastes and selects the right food, so we too, must test and select what we allow into our minds. If it is not good, don't allow it in!
  • Choose what is right. As you look at TV programmes, movies, videos, magazines, as you listen to music, make some very definite choices as to what is right for real spiritual growth and blessing.
  • Know what is good. There are many things that seem alright, but they are not good for your spiritual life. If you want the best, then you must 'eat what is good' and then you 'will delight in the richest of spiritual blessing'.

~ Be conscious of what you are doing. You are creating your future experiences with your "NOW" thoughts ~

Brunch at the Little Cottage...

Aahhh.... doing things at the spur of the moment. Just another typical Wednesday. Came back from the gym and saw a text from Juju. Took a shower and in 15 mins time, I was already at the hospital to pick her up. Hhhmmm.... sounds like picking a patient up after treatment... nah... she works there. Our same ol' problem... where to head for lunch? Decide... quick! It's always a hard decision as the gate at the green building heading towards the main road is so near.
Gurney Plaza... that's the best choice of place to go to but what about food. We had no idea what we wanted to eat as I have already planned what to cook for lunch when I get back home. Little Cottage it was then...
I just love spending quality time with friends instead of going out with a bunch of people and trying to get my brain to koink up something to talk about in general.
She's my permanent lunch date... romantic~! It's always just the two of us... and we started by attacking the soft buns with butter......and a big plate of pumpkin soup with lots and lots of black pepper...
Have I mention before that I can't live without chicken? "Monte-Carlo" chicken for me...
... and lamb shoulder for her....
We stopped joking and giggling for awhile to attack the food... but we were playing around with the camera instead...
Sum it up, a great brunch with great company in a nice and plush restaurant plus delicious food makes my day a happy one... let me promote Tabasco sauce on behalf of the Little Cottage of Waterfall Inn...
They have those cute little bottles on display...
