Day 16: From Taipei to Hong Kong to Shenzhen...

~ 29th March 2014~
We did not rush for once. We took the high speed rail to Taoyuan then hopped onto a taxi. When we arrived, the queue was quite long but we had a couple of hours in our hands. Many people shop until they had their luggage bursting at its seam. They should hire me as their luggage packer. I'm good in packing. We're no different even though we did not buy that much. My travel buddy was one step ahead of everyone in the buying game. She has couriered everything home so we did not have to carry anything in our hands.
At Taoyuan Airport...
We read the board for our flight time. To our horror, our flight was delayed for another hour. That we could accept. We checked-in and walked around near the gate that we should be waiting at. Suddenly, our flight time became unintelligibly written. The flight time will be announced once our flight arrived from Hong Kong.
We walked around and busied ourselves with Eva Air's exhibits of Hello Kitty accessories of sorts. Toilet paper printed with Hello Kitty? Does that make shitting more comfortable and exciting? We walked around and Pinky went for a shopping spree buying cosmetics in another floor. We walked from one end of the airport to another until the salespersons standing at the entrances of their shops stopped greeting us altogether. We became nuisance walking up and down.
Very expensive Jump from Paper...

That Jump from Paper bags were so expensive. We quickly checked out Taobao and bought one for each of us. I never use mine because it looked kinda silly. Can't keep anything in there so I gave it to one of my girls. I don't know what happen to Pinky's Jump from Paper bag. Never see it when I visited her in Australia and didn't see it back home in China. She must have put it somewhere.
Terrible food...

We took a quick bite. The food was terrible but we were thinking about going back for nice dinner. Our initial plan was to stay in Hong Kong for a few days before we make our way back to Shenzhen but as the flight time refused to appear on the screen and no one could answer us on what time the flight would come, we became really agitated. Then, the gate number changed and we dragged ourselves down to another level.Since 12:30p.m. we were already at the airport. Our flight was supposed to take off at 2:30p.m. We ended up waiting until 6:40p.m. There was a bad storm over in Hong Kong which caused the delay.
Welcome to Shenzhen... almost midnight...

The moment we landed in Hong Kong, we dragged our things. Pinky's mom and grandaunt were waiting for us and I changed my mind on the spot. It was at the spur of the moment that I feel like going back to Shenzhen and not going anywhere at all. It's like enough of visiting places. I just want to stay at home and not go anywhere. Shenzhen is like my second home. I think I upset first aunt's intention to have us in her house but I just have the urge to go back to Shenzhen and curl on the couch watching television. That's a REAL holiday.
... our supper...

We took the two buses until we arrived at the border of Shenzhen. The stamping of passport was fast but the wait for public transport to go home was a total nightmare. We waited for another hour or so in line. There was no taxi in sight as there was a concert at the stadium opposite. All taxis have gone there. We ended up taking illegal taxi. There were a few who tried to intimidate us into taking their illegal transport but we refused to follow anyone who intimidate us that way. We ended up asking for one ourselves and we named the price, not the other way round. We got home before midnight. We only had that hearty breakfast at Eslite Cafe and the horrible small amount of food at the airport. Our next meal was supper.
