Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Again the principle of 'replacement' is seen. Decision and action are required. Put off the problems, attitudes and characteristics of the old nature and deliberately put on the attitudes and characteristics of the new nature.

Amplified version:

Put off the old man - (the unregenerate self) with its evil practices and put on the new man which is renewed in the knowledge and after the image of Him who created it.

The putting off and putting on programme is a continual process. God's renewing and remoulding takes place every time we put on, and put in, God's truth and knowledge. It is knowing and applying truth, that sets us free.

There is a universal mental law that governs your life, from the day you were born, until the day you die. It is the law of cause and effect, and it says that whatever the effects you are experiencing in your life, good or bad, there is a direct cause. If you want to change the effects, you have to change the causes.

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
