It is important when you give something to someone that it be given with the right spirit, not out of a sense of obligation. One of the key principles in giving, however, is that the gift must be yours to give - either something you earned or created or maybe, simply, part of yourself.
Giving need not be in the form of money. It can be in the form of time, a pair of listening ears or just by simply being there to those who need it most.... a hug, a shoulder to cry on, to share laughter with, to lend a helping hand. Never say you can't give because you have no money.
I always think that if I give something away, someone else now possess it, and I will be left with less than I had before. In reality, when you give out of love, both the giver and receiver have more than they started with... and that's a fact :)
