The Deity of Christ...

The doctrine of the Deity of Christ is so important because the belief in the deity of Christ is essential to salvation. Many people accepted the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour when they recognized Jesus as Lord. To deny the deity of Christ is to rob mankind of a Saviour and condemn us eternally.
The LORD says to my lord:
“Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”

[Psalm 110:1]
God the Father said to His son, Jesus Christ, who is seated on the right hand of God, that God the Father will make Jesus' enemies a footstool for Jesus' feet to rest on.
God can be with men through the virgin birth.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. [Isaiah 9:6-7]

The names given to our Saviour are:
  • Wonderful Counselor
  • Mighty God
  • Everlasting Father
  • Prince of Peace
  • Emmanuel

One prophecy to show that the Saviour was to be the eternal One, can be found here..

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” [Micah 5:2]

...stated that He is from Everlasting.

The significance of...

“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. [John 8:58-59]

.... is that Jesus ascribing the Name of God to Himself as the 'I AM' and His existence was even before Abraham was, 'I AM'.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” [Mark 2:5]

Jesus proved that He is God by forgiving their sins and everyone knows that ONLY GOD can forgive sins. Jesus possesses the 5 natural attributes of God:

  1. Jesus claimed omniscience
saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. [Mark 11:2-6]
  2. Jesus claimed omnipresence For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. [Matthew 18:20]
  3. Jesus claimed omnipotence Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [Matthew 28:18]
  4. Jesus had creative power The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. [Hebrews 1:3]
  5. Jesus had power over the elements
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. [Luke 8:24]

Jesus proved that He is Divine by rebuking the wind and it obeyed Him and there was great calm at once in Luke 8:24.

The strongest and capstone argument that Jesus is God is found in...

and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. [Romans 1:4]

This verse specifically states that the resurrection declares Jesus as the Son of God. If Jesus were a fake, liar, impostor or a mere man or superman, God would have left Him in the grave until the day of the final judgment and condemned Him to hell.

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. [Romans 6:4]

The Father God thus procalims conclusive to the world the Deity of Jesus Christ.
