The Cross and the Switchblade...

I was introduced to this book by someone *I forget his name* who is in charge of the church library. For myself, I will not want to even touch this book as it looks like it's gonna fall apart anytime soon. The book was printed in 1963, way older than I am.

This is one book that I will recommend to those who are readers and to those who don't read. There are so many testimonies on how the Holy Spirit, given a chance to work in a person's life, can change everything that seems to be impossible, into something beautiful... a new lease of life. And it is truly marvellous to read about how God, in His own mysterious ways, make things happen.

Here are the 10 special gifts which you can depend on once you have receive the Holy Spirit:

  1. Power... But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you [Acts 1:8]

  2. Have a Comforter... But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. [john 14:26]

  3. Protection... Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia [Acts 16:6]

  4. Of spiritual values... All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus [Ephesians 2:3-6]

  5. You will have life... Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. [2 Corinthians 3:5-6]

  6. Living with the Spirit of Truth... But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. [John 16:13]

  7. Direct access to the Father... For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. [Ephesians 2:18]

  8. Hope... May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. [Romans 15:13]

  9. Liberty... Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. [2 Corinthians 3:17]

  10. The Holy Spirit... While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. [Acts 10:44]

Please take a minute to look at David Wilkerson's humble beginning that has grown tremendously over half a century. It's a Teen Challenge Centre... http://www.teenchallengetc.com/

I hope you will be generous enough to donate to them. Every penny from your pocket will be able to save a life from wasting away on the streets.

Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. [Psalm 126:5]
